Students of the Economic Research and Teaching Center (CIDE) protested on Monday against the presence of the president of the Senate, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, in rejection of his statements about the Izaguirre Rancho de Teuchitlán, Jalisco, according to the website of the medium of the 24 hours.

As a symbol of their disagreement, they placed shoes in the auditorium where the legislator gave the conference “Reforms from the left”, an event held without access to the press.

The protest originated from the sayings of Fernández Noroña, who has questioned that the ranch has been a clandestine cremation site of missing persons.

In response to students’ claims, the senator questioned whether any of the shoes represented a victim of forced disappearance.

Far from retracting, the legislator reiterated his position and argued that the protest against him was the product of “misinformation” and “misrepresentation” of his statements. “There are my shoes and they are not missing,” he said.

For weeks, Fernández Noroña has dismissed the version of the search groups and has insisted that the ranch is not a “extermination field”, but a “training field”.

In addition, he has accused the “perverse right” of trying to convert the Teuchitlán case into the “Ayotzinapa of the 4T”.

Despite the pressure of the attendees, Morena’s senator remained firm in his statements, arguing that the investigations are still ongoing and that the accusations against the federal government lack livelihood.
