Mexico City, (EFE) .- The alliance against inequality in Mexico demanded the application of a multimillionaire tax and the forgiveness of external debt to reduce the rest of the population’s taxes.
In the Hemicycle to Juárez, located in the capital of the country, the organization demanded that the Government eliminate tax havens, a progressive tax for large fortunes, the abolition of illegitimate debt, and a reduction in the working day from 48 to 40 hours (without gradualness), with the future goal of reducing it to 35 hours.
From the Alliance they expose that these requests aspire to transfer borders and become global proposals.
“The 15 richest billionaires or millionaires concentrate 30% of wealth in Mexico (…), they themselves autonombran administrators of this wealth that, well distributed, can help have better public services,” said Sara Arteaga, a member of the association.
For the imposition of this tax on the rich, they propose a progressive tax on wealth: 1% for those who have 5,000 million dollars, 2% for those who have 10,000 million, and 5% for those who have more than 15,000 million dollars.

According to association calculations, it is estimated that the collection could keep two million Mexican families.
On external debt, they affirmed that states must condemn it due to the high interests it has and that sometimes makes countries straighten only to pay that debt.
The demand occurs within the framework of the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments, which will be held in Seville between June 30 and July 1, in which they denounce that “there is usually talk of development as a business” and without considering the real demands of citizenship.
Therefore, they ask the Mexican delegation in the forum “to put on the table of these international groups and with these elites, the wealth tax, so that it is talk about structural changes that benefit citizens.”
At the same time, the organization, with a presence in 14 countries of the world, launched the global campaign ‘raises the voice for’ in which they invite their reasons for their social discontent to publish on social networks.
