The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stated this Wednesday that Latin America “repudiates” the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) after denouncing the alleged participation of this institution in coups d’état in the region.

“No to the coups d’état carried out by the CIA (…). How long will there be coups d’état by the CIA? Latin America does not want them, does not need them and repudiates them,” said Maduro in a broadcast on the state channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

The president spoke this way after the Administration of US President Donald Trump authorized the CIA to carry out lethal operations in Venezuela as well as in the Caribbean, in an increase in its actions against the Venezuelan Government with the aim of “removing it from power”, according to The New York Times newspaper reported this Wednesday.
