In recent years we have witnessed the advances in the development of medicines and health technology in Mexico, but there was a slowness, distrust and lack of clarity in the requirements in the industry, said Armida Zuñiga Estrada, head of the commission Federal for protection against health risks (Cofepris).
“Despite the advances, many of our citizens face gaps to access treatments, slowness (and we recognize it) of regulatory processes, the lack of clarity in the requirements and distrust in institutions have hindered the implementation of effective solutions ”Said the official.
He added that today he faces an invaluable opportunity to assume the mandate granted by Claudia Sheinbaum and the Secretary of Health, David Kerksenovich.

He recalled that the Covid-19 pandemic showed “many facets of the work we should improve and one of them was to improve agility and confidence in the national regulatory agency, Cofepris.”
To do this, it is essential to have access to innovative treatments that save lives and health, a fundamental right of Mexicans.
The Cofepris mission is to ensure that each person in Mexico has access to the best available treatment options, he said.

“We have a great opportunity that we have translated into great challenges,” he said.
“One of the challenges is amalgamar in a single context and our essential function of working for the public health of Mexicans, but adding the empowerment we have in Cofepris for the economic development of the industry settled in our country,” he added.
“Today there is a great opportunity that we have in Mexico to make changes to improve living conditions and health in the population,” he said.
