The Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur) presented seven proposals for the electoral reform that is emerging around 2026, within the framework of the Dialogue promoted by the Government.

The business agency of the tertiary sector, responsible for 80% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), held in a statement the opening of the process coordinated by the National Commission for Electoral Reform, headed by Pablo Gómez.

“From our institutional and territorial vocation, we consider that this is a valuable opportunity to review, improve and give greater certainty to the rules of the Mexican democratic system, based on the plural dialogue, the long -term vision and the active participation of organized citizenship,” said the Concanaco Servytur.

In addition, the note said that the Confederation approved – in its most recent national council session – a proactive position with an emphasis on seven axes “that seek to make this reform an authentic transformation, at the service of the country and not of particular interests.”

“We are ready to contribute from the territory, from the experience of millions of formal businesses that represent the daily effort of Mexico. We want a closer democracy, more transparent and truly representative,” said the president of the Concanaco Servytur, Octavio de la Torre.

Among the key proposals, the agency proposed to move towards a direct vote model for all positions of popular representation, with clearly delimited districts or regions and respect for the real representation of minorities.

He also proposed to facilitate the creation of parties with community roots, eliminating disproportionate obstacles and avoiding the transfer of votes between parties, to ensure authentic competition.

A third axis seeks clear rules of financing, with reduction of public resources, transparency of private financing, real stops to the contributions of natural persons and strict control.

In addition, the representatives of the tertiary sector approved objectives to guarantee access to charges for merit, without depending on partisan networks or quotas; promote the participation of youth in candidacies and strategic decisions; and boost long -term planning to continue public policies beyond six -year cycles.

Likewise, the Confederation asked to ensure the autonomy of the electoral referee, with technical and financial independence and electronic implementation improvements.

In its positioning, Concanaco Servytur stressed that it is not a cupular organization and claimed to represent more than 5.2 million formal businesses throughout the country, with two million members through 258 business chambers.

From this basis, he reiterated that his proposals seek to strengthen democracy “from the local” and expressed his willingness to actively participate in the dialogue and in the forums organized by the National Commission for Electoral Reform, with the goal that the modifications are translated into a democracy “from below, from the local.”

“We believe in an electoral reform that returns power to citizens, to the regions and the organized community,” he concluded.
