The confidence of consumers in Mexico had in June its most pronounced setback in seven months, in the midst of the economic weakness that the country is going through.

The INEGI indicator, which measures the confidence of people in the home and the country’s economy, fell 1.1 points compared to May, the broader decrease since last November, according to desestationalized data of the Institute of Statistics published this Friday.

That component of the indicator yielded 2.6 points compared to May, the strongest fall from the 4.3-point setback in May 2020, in the middle of the health contingency by the COVID-19.

Another of the components of the indicator refers to the confidence of the person surveyed regarding the economic situation of the country today, compared to that of a year ago. This item fell 1.2 points, the most notorious reduction since last November.

In its annual comparison, that is, in front of June last year, the confidence of consumers gave 2.2 points.
