The Congress began on Monday a new session marked by the delivery of the first government report of President Claudia Sheinbaum and the protest of the new ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN).
In session of the General Congress, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Gutiérrez Luna, from Morena, received the document from the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez.
The report was also turned to the cameras of deputies and senators for separate analysis.
“The Congress of the Union formally declares the obligation of the President of the Republic referred to in the first paragraph of article 69 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States,” said Gutiérrez Luna.
The session also had the presence of the incoming president of the Senate, Laura Itzel Castillo, also emanating from the Morena ruler.
Renewal in the Supreme Court
The start of the legislative period was also framed by the protest of the new ministers of the Supreme Court, in compliance with the new model of nine members approved in the judicial reform of 2024, raised by the then President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and promoted by Sheinbaum.
With this, the Judiciary advances in its institutional reconfiguration after the elections of June 1, where more than 800 positions were elected, including nine positions of the Supreme Court.

In his report, submitted hours before in the National Palace, Sheinbaum said that the country is going “well” and “will be better”, highlighting as initial achievements the 25% reduction in homicides, the growth of GDP of 1.2% and the expansion of social programs.
“We are going well and we will go better for our people, for our homeland it is worth giving every hour, every minute and every breath of our day,” he said.
The president, who assumed the position on October 1, 2024, stressed that the first 11 months of her management have been “hard work” and promised to “walk without rest, with righteousness, with courage” to honor citizen confidence.

He recalled that Mexico lives “a stellar moment in our history” despite global uncertainty for the commercial war with the United States.
In the following days, the cameras will develop the analysis of the report on internal policy, economy, security, social and foreign policy, together with the holders of each government agency that may be called to appear to explain the reported results.
In addition, for this period of sessions a broad debate is expected in various priority issues for the second year of President Sheinbaum’s mandate, in which the prelude to an electoral reform is inscribed for 2026.
