The Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) demanded that Claudia Sheinbaum’s government stop the insecurity crisis experienced in Mexico, especially in Sinaloa where more than 155 murders and losses of 800 million pesos have been reported due to the fight between the ” Chapitos” and the “Mayos”.
“The recent acts of violence in Mexico are a worrying reflection of the situation we face as a country, which is why we strongly condemn the acts that have claimed the lives of innocent people, and we reiterate our demand that the authorities act with determination and urgency. “, stated the organization directed by José Medina Mora Icaza.
According to the employers’ union, the violence in Sinaloa has continued to wreak havoc, since in recent weeks, more than 155 people have lost their lives in this entity, which has caused a devastating impact on the local economy and the lives of its residents. population.
“The economic losses exceed 800 million pesos, which shows how violence is affecting both the stability of the people and the financial stability of the region,” he declared.
The murder of the mayor of Chilpancingo is a tragedy that we deeply regret, and that reflects the insecurity in which public officials live in many regions of the country, he recalled.
“This unfortunate event should not be repeated. It is crucial that the government guarantees adequate security conditions so that public servants can perform their duties without fear of reprisals from organized crime and communities can live in peace,” stated Coparmex.
The business entity pointed out that the situation in these two cities is just a sample of a much larger problem.
“The last six-year term was the most violent in the history of Mexico, with more than 191 thousand homicides and 51 thousand missing people. Despite the government’s efforts, the results have not been sufficient, the militarization of public security has raised concerns about respect for human rights, and it is urgent to rethink the strategy to combat organized crime,” he expressed.
The Security Strategy presented by the Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo government is based on addressing the causes of violence through social programs for youth, strengthening the National Guard under military control, improving intelligence with a unified system of investigation and coordination between the government federal and states will be key to taking effective measures to stop violence and restore peace in the country.
“We will be attentive to the implementation of this strategy, highlighting the need to continually evaluate its actions to identify and recognize those that are effective, as well as adjust those that require improvements,” Coparmex stated.
He added that intelligence, coordination and accountability will be fundamental pillars for Mexico to move towards lasting peace.
Coparmex called on the authorities to act immediately and in a coordinated manner.
“It is essential that public policies be adopted that attack the root causes of violence, restore trust in institutions and promote a safe environment for all. “Peace is a right of citizens and an essential condition for the economic and social development of the country,” he said.
“We stand in solidarity with the communities of Chilpancingo and Culiacán, as well as with all regions of Mexico that face violence on a daily basis,” he concluded.
