Juan José Sierra Alvarez, president of the Patronal Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex), said they work for the revision of the TMEC positioning the business voice between decision makers and the United States government.

According to the representative of the business body, it was essential to bring a message to Washington firm, proactive and constructive of what Mexico and the productive sector represent, in a context of global uncertainty, commercial tensions and shared challenges in North America.
He added that the visit to make the lobbying and show the value of the importance of Mexican companies in the United States was not a parallel or isolated effort or different from the room, a mechanism under the tutelage of the Business Coordinating Council in charge of the work agenda for the next review of the TMEC.
“(The work tour of Washington) is a joint effort that we have had from the T-Mec Nearshoring Committee (of the Coparmex) with Herminio Blanco and Jaime Zabludovsky, who head the room together with the private sector,” he said.
The businessman reiterated that the visit to the United States is a joint effort with the Fourth of together, the Tmec Nearshoring committee and with the CCE office in Washington.

“It is the first of several visits we will make in the year and are scheduled with a strategic route from the Coparmex Tmec Nearshoring Committee,” said Juan José Sierra Álvarez.
For a couple of days, the representatives of the Coparmex met with officials of the State Department, the Office of the United States Commercial Representative (USTR), key legislators of the Congress, centers of thought, multilateral organizations and civil society organizations.
“Even these spaces took the serious, institutional and committed voice of Coparmex with the democratic development of Mexico. We met with United States authorities to address issues of commercial, labor and rule policy,” he recalled.
“Coparmex was heard with much respect and attention, since we convey the legal certainty that they speak a few moments ago, the fulfillment of the T-MEC and the defense of democratic institutions,” he said.

The president of the Coparmex said that legal certainty, the fulfillment of the TMEC and the defense of the institutions is not a negotiable issue and that addressed the election of judges, magistrates and ministers in Mexico.
“The rule of law is at risk, technical justice, independent and without partisan influence and of any kind is an indispensable condition for attracting investment, generating employment and guaranteeing the certainty that Mexico needs,” he said.
