Juan José Sierra Álvarez, president of the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Copamex), asked the Secretary of the Treasury to inform President Sheinbaum that the organization is against the Infonavit Law, as he considered it a threat to savings. of the workers.

“We will firmly oppose any attempt to divert Infonavit resources towards purposes other than those established,” declared the businessman in his inauguration.

The leader of the employers’ union said that if there is an act of corruption with the management of Infonavit resources, whoever should be reported and punished.

“Today, independence and transparency must be the guiding principles of Infonavit,” he stated.

“At Coparmex we will be responsible and will decisively protect the funds that I repeat belong to the workers, guaranteeing their transparency, supervision and responsible use,” he noted.

“Secretary Ramírez de la O (it is necessary) to strengthen financial supervision and financial regulation by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit and the National Banking and Securities Commission in matters of authorship and surveillance so that there are standards for accounting records without limiting the credit scope of Infonavit,” he expressed.

According to the president of Coparmex, it is strategic that the Treasury and its governing bodies regulate tripartism, which is part of the essence of Infonavit.

“It is very important that the tax authorities can analyze and give their opinion on the destination of the (Infonavit) investments, which amounts to more than 800 million pesos so that they are invested efficiently in economic development,” he stated.

“The Ministry of Finance must specify in which financial instrument can be invested in the long term, which will increase the real return on savings deposited in housing subaccounts and the amount of savings for housing and pensions, as well as a better load in public finances,” he added.

“Better investment of Infonavit resources can have a knock-on effect on private investment, which is key for the country,” he asserted before the Secretary of the Treasury, who attended the inauguration on behalf of Sheinbaum Pardo.

He added that the resources allocated to workers’ housing are not just figures, but represent the daily efforts of millions of Mexicans who “dream of a house and a decent and safe place for their families.”

He also declared that he will seek to improve the conditions of micro and small businesses as one of the guiding axes of his presidency in the period 2025-2026.

During the event, participants agreed on the unity and improvement of labor and production processes, in which legality and representativeness of economic agents are required.

They mentioned the need for a “new social pact that includes workers and employers” for reconciliation with a country in peace and democratic conditions for better economic performance.

Juan José Sierra Álvarez said that strengthening micro and small businesses will be the priority of his presidency: “Each MSME will have resources to innovate and grow.”

He said that credit schemes with competitive rates will be promoted to reduce the gaps between different business segments and that they can be integrated into global value chains.

The outgoing president of Coparmex, Juan José Medina Mora Icaza, recognized the openness of the then president Andrés Manuel López Obrador to advance in the elimination of outsourcing and the improvement of the minimum wage.

“With PACIC 2 it will be more difficult to lower inflation from 4 to 3 percent,” warned Medina Mora Icaza.
