The deputy of Morena and former governor of Morelos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, appeared this Thursday before the Morelos Prosecutor’s Office to respond to the accusation of attempted rape.
Accompanied by his lawyer, the former soccer player stressed that his appearance was an act of transparency and that he would always face the accusations against him, according to a report from the medium the impartial.
“I feel good, I come here to appear. Before something else I want to thank the deputies for having confidence and defending myself from political violence; I will always face my face,” Blanco declared before the press.
During his appearance, Blanco defended his innocence and assured that the complaint against him is part of a political retaliation for his complaint of extortion against former Morelos, Uriel Carmona.
In addition, his defense accused the authorities of trying to hide details of the case by not allowing them to access the investigation folder, which generated concern about the transparency of the process.

The request for lawlessness against Blanco was rejected in the Chamber of Deputies on March 25. The legislators who supported the former governor argued technical deficiencies in the investigation and contradictions in the evidence presented. While Cuauhtémoc Blanco keeps his immunity, he cannot be stopped.
President Claudia Sheinbaum said that the new Morelos Prosecutor’s Office has the power to review the case and ensure that justice is done, but stressed that the context of the complaint must be analyzed.
On the other hand, the defense of Nidia Fabiola, the complainant and a half sister of Blanco, announced that she will continue to seek a new lawless process so that a deeper investigation is carried out.
In a statement, the State Prosecutor’s Office reiterated its “commitment to impartiality and unrestricted respect for the human rights of all persons, without distinction of position, political affiliation or public condition.”
