The excapitan of the English soccer team David Beckham said Friday feeling “proud” and “grateful” upon receiving from King Carlos III the title of ‘Caballero’, with treatment of ‘Sir’, in recognition of his services to sport and beneficial causes.
“I grew up in eastern London with very patriots and grandparents proud to be British, and I never imagined that I would receive this honor,” he said, in statements released by the British agency PA.
The former footballer and model, which in 2003 already received the title of the Order of the British Empire (OBE, in English), said that having captained the selection of England “was the greatest privilege” of his career and “literally a dream of childhood becomes a reality.”
‘Sir’ David, who recently celebrated his 50th birthday, recalled that outside the pitch has “been fortunate to represent the United Kingdom worldwide and work with incredible organizations that support needy communities.”

“I am very lucky to be able to do the work I do and I am grateful for me to recognize a work that fills me with satisfaction,” he said.
“It will take me for a while to assimilate the news, but I am immensely proud and it is a very emotional moment to share with my family,” he added.
In addition to Beckham, they are appointed gentlemen of the British empire in the annual list of decorations for the monarch’s birthday actor Gary Oldman and The Who’s singer, Roger Daltrey.
‘Sir’ Gary, 67 and who, among other things, played Sirius Black in several films of the Harry Potter saga, is recognized for his theater services.
For his part, ‘Sir’ Roger, co -founder of The Who in 1964, receives the title for his work in music and charity organizations, since he headed since 2000 the foundation of adolescent cancer.
“It’s a dream come true, but it is especially because the Foundation means a lot to me,” he told Pa.
