Director Guillermo del Toro will present his most recent film ‘Frankenstein’ in Mexico City on November 3 along with the leading cast made up of Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, after the film had its premiere in the country this Wednesday within the framework of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM).
In a video shared on the social networks of Netflix Latin America, the creator of ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ (2006) revealed that “in a very short time” the film, based on the novel of the same name by Mary Shelley (1797-1851), will be able to be seen in selected Mexican theaters on October 23.
“Some time ago they asked me how I managed to see in the horrible something beautiful and in the beautiful something horrible. The answer was very simple: Because I am Mexican,” stressed the director, 61 years old, and one of the most important in national cinema for his investigation into the contrasts of terror and tenderness, a trait close to the book written by Shelley and published in 1818.
Regarding this film produced by Netflix and distributed in Mexico by Pimienta Films, Del Toro stated that Mexicans have that “gift” required to appreciate this story that has traveled through the Venice International Film Festival and the Spanish one in San Sebastian.
“This is not just a horror film, it is a look at the family dynamics of parents and children and loaded with a lot of light towards a creature that only provokes horror in those who do not know it (…) I hope you enjoy this film and each of its characters with an open heart and a lot of Mexicanness,” he highlighted.

The screening of ‘Frankenstein’ has been confirmed in 24 of the 32 entities in the country, where the public will enjoy the performances of Isaac, Elordi, Mia Goth and the Oscar-winning Christoph Waltz for his performance in ‘Inglourious Basterds’ (2009).
Regarding his visit to the Mexican capital, the Oscar winner did not detail the place or time, but he assured in his X account that he will soon be in “la capirucha.”
With this new adaptation, which will be broadcast on Netflix on November 7, Del Toro once again establishes himself as the person responsible for bringing the most famous monsters in history to the big screen, as he did with ‘Hellboy’ in 2004 and the sequel in 2008.
