Democratic congressmen demanded this Thursday from the administration of Donald Trump that granted a humanitarian permit to return to Sara Hernández, the American girl who was deported with her family to Mexico when she was looking for treatment for the cancer she suffers.

“We are not talking about people who are criminals like them.

Espaillat met the month of May in Mexico with the Hernández family and defended that this case shows that the target of the Trump administration “is to deport families, children, mothers and fathers.”

“Sara is the face of our humanity as a nation,” said Rochelle Garza, the president of Texas Civil Rights Project, who attended the family from the first moment.

In March, the girl, her five brothers and her parents, all residents of Texas, were deported when they tried to cross a border checkpoint to take Sara, 10 years at that time, the doctor after she complained that she did not feel good.

When stopping them, migration agents gave two options to their parents: being deported together or being separated from their children, since five of them are US citizens and could stay in the country.

They chose to stay together and were expelled the next day, leaving the child without access to specialized medical care.

Since then, the family lives in a rural area of Mexico, where Sara cannot receive the appropriate treatment for not having Mexican citizenship and for the high costs, Garza said.

“Four months have passed, we urgently need a humanitarian parole (permission) to bring Sarah back home and receives the attention it needs, and we need it now,” Texas Democratic legislator Joaquín Castro said Thursday.
