At the last minute of the eve, the Chamber of Deputies unanimously endorsed, the reform of the Federal Labor Law (LFT) to guarantee the minimum wage in service establishments, such as gasoline offices, hotels and restaurants, in addition to shielding its tips.
In this sense, Deputy Pedro Hazes Barba, Political Operation Coordinator of the Parliamentary Group of Morena, celebrated the approval in the Labor and Social Welfare Commission of his work initiative in hotels, restaurants, bars, sports companies, entertainment, fuel service stations and other similar establishments.
In statements to representatives of the media, he stressed that with these reforms and additions to the Federal Labor Law to articles 90, 344, 346, 347, 348 and 350, a decent salary is guaranteed for workers and workers who depend on tips.
Bee Barba explained that the initiative is for all those Mexican workers who do not have a salary such as gas stations, restaurants, waiters, Bellboys (hotel employees), parking and tip ramp, which will be able to access a minimum wage, to social security and everything that constitutional article 123 establishes and is reflected in the Federal Labor Law.
The modification prohibits employers from changing remuneration, which in no case may be lower than the minimum wage or professional salary, for tips or any other type of gratification.
He assured that the tip is given by the good attention that you have as host, so people give remuneration, so they should not be taxed, “it is not mandatory, it is sacred.”
“Restaurants and hotels often discount the workers of their tips for glassware, cutlery and the crop that breaks, and that can no longer be; then, in this legislature we will wrap them so that they can have that access to all the benefits that the law gives them,” he said.
You Barba said that it will always be in favor of productivity, to take care of the companies and the workers, so he said that the issue has talked on many occasions with the president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), Francisco Alberto Cervantes Díaz.
“We are going for a salary for all those who have never had it, we will wait to see what happens tomorrow, which is when the tariff decision is going to be made. Mexico is bigger than any tariff.”
Asked about whether the workers who are imposing the president of the United States, Donald Trump, assured that President Claudia Sheinbaum will always take care of the people of Mexico that “we do not worry us, we have a lot of president,” will be imposed.
On how unemployment is going to face, he stressed that the president of Mexico is a strategist and professional; “I am sure, and have confidence in our president, he will reach a good agreement with the president of the United States.”
