The director of Infonavit, Octavio Romero, defended the creation of a social housing construction company during the 132nd extraordinary general assembly of the institute.

He stated that the company will reduce costs with the consolidated acquisition of materials and services, which will generate direct and indirect jobs in each entity in the country.

He indicated that in the properties owned by Infonavit, affordable housing will be available in the lease-purchase scheme, and that it will focus on the priority population: young people, heads of
family and older adults.

During their participation in the assembly, the employer and worker representatives rejected the creation of a construction company, describing it as a regressive proposal.

The director of Infonavit declared that concretizing the National Housing and Regularization Program, providing sufficient and cheap credit, responsibly managing the portfolio and improving efficiency and productivity will be the priorities of the team he heads.

When taking his oath as general director, Romero Oropeza assured that for his administration it will be a premise that all relevant issues are discussed with the component sectors of Infonavit, in a transparent environment and effective coordination.

“Without a doubt, the challenge to improve the living conditions of millions of Mexicans, to guarantee them access to decent housing, is enormous. It involves a lot of coordinated effort that only with
communication, transparency, respect and commitment between those responsible can be carried out,” he stated according to a statement from the institute.

Workers, businessmen and the government committed to strengthening tripartism and continuing to work for the benefit of rights.
