The Mexican Association of Pharmaceutical Research Industries (AMIIF) reported that it appointed Jorge Luis Caridad, director of Johnson & Johnson Mexico, as its interim president.

The organization detailed that Caridad assumes the leadership of the association during the statutory election process, after the previous president and director of AstraZeneca Mexico, Julio Ordaz, had an international promotion.

“We deeply appreciate the vision, leadership and commitment of Julio Ordaz, who knew how to steer the AMIIF in a key period for innovation in health, promoting collaboration and an agenda focused on people,” said the Board of Directors of the AMIIF, according to a statement.

Career of Jorge Luis Caridad

Jorge Luis Caridad has more than two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. For 19 years he has been part of Johnson & Johnson, where he has held senior management positions in Latin America and Europe, in the areas of strategy, market access, marketing, sales and general management, according to the AMIIF.

His career includes responsibilities in Spain, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Central America, the Caribbean, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile, with a focus on access to transformational therapies and the sustainability of health systems.

“At the AMIIF we reaffirm our commitment to the continuity of the strategic work that we have been building together with our associates. We will continue to build bridges of collaboration and strengthen the public-private alliances that have allowed us to move towards a more solid and sustainable health system,” said Caridad according to the statement.
