Rocío Robles Serrano, executive president of the Mexican Association of LP Gas Distributors and Related Companies (Amexgas), stated that “by December there will already be a full tank” and the supply of LP gas will be normalized, after Pemex rationalized the energy used in homes.

“It is only a temporary matter (the lack of sufficient energy due to rationalization), a couple of weeks until it is regularized and we will all have a full tank by December,” he said.

“Today end users and industries are asked to allow us this week to supply only what is necessary,” he declared.

The business leader said that there is no shortage or increase in the price of LP gas, but rather that there was a “rationalization” of the fuel by Pemex.

He declared that the lack of gas is due to a “rationalization” that is registered in Puebla, Veracruz, Tlaxcala, Mexico City and the State of Mexico, but it is not a pretext to increase the price.

“I want to tell you to rest assured, since there have been logistical changes, as you know, Pemex is our main supplier of LP gas, the main importer and has had challenges in its infrastructure,” he expressed.

“In recent weeks, the oil company has been changing our shipping centers or supply points,” he said.

“There are areas that have actually had closures even due to road strikes and there has been more than a shortage, what there has been is rationing in principle from Pemex towards the distributors and from the distributors towards the user,” he added.

He said that another factor is the heavy rains, which cause the closure of pipelines of a private company, as well as road blockages.

Given this, he called on the population to remain calm, since the situation will soon normalize.

“Pemex has many challenges, but it works to guarantee the supply of LP gas, like the industry,” he added.

“In general, what the industry seeks is to normalize gas distribution as soon as possible before an increase in demand for LP gas in December,” he added.
