Drake Maye, young quarterback of the New England Patriots, trusted this Friday that he has the nerve to emulate victories like those forged in the past by legends like Tom Brady and Michael Jordan.
“I think that mettle is what drives the great players and the great athletes of the past. That’s what the great players like Michael Jordan or Tom Brady did here; they always wanted the ball. From my position I want to have the ball and see what I can do,” said the quarterback in advance of the American Conference final in which they will visit the Denver Broncos next Sunday.
Maye, who is in his second season with the Patriots, has returned the hope to his team that had not reached a conference final since Tom Brady, the top Super Bowl winner, with seven, led them in the 2018 season to beat the Kansas City Chiefs 37-31.
At 23 years old, Drake, one of the five finalists to be named Most Valuable Player of the 2025 season, is called to be Brady’s successor in the Patriots, high expectations from which he prefers to isolate himself.

“I’m not worried about what others think, or what they say outside. I’m worried about the people inside this locker room. I know that this is the most important game and that’s why we can’t lose concentration; the best mentality is the most important thing for me and this team, we’ve had it all year and I’m proud of how we’ve approached it,” he said.
Although the Denver Broncos finished the season as the best team in the AFC, which gives them the right to receive the title match at home, Maye does not feel that they are at a disadvantage because he said they have a high level of confidence that makes them almost unstoppable.
“We are very difficult to stop. We are prepared, with a very high level of confidence. As a quarterback I will go out with full confidence in myself to transmit it to all the lines in each play. That is the most important thing in a game like this. We cannot forget that that brought us here,” he concluded.
The New England Patriots are the team that has the most American Conference titles in history, with 11 championships, their rival, the Broncos, along with the Pittsburgh Steelers, chase them with eight Lamar Hunt trophies each.
