Earn Delta Miles for Uber Rides

Delta Air Lines announced a new, exclusive partnership with Uber that will allow travelers to earn Delta SkyMiles on Uber rides and Uber Eats deliveries. The new partnership was announced at Delta’s keynote presentation at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on Jan. 7.

Starting this spring, Uber will replace Lyft as Delta’s rideshare partner, offering Delta SkyMiles members opportunities to earn SkyMiles whenever they spend money with Uber.

How to earn Delta SkyMiles with Uber

Once Delta’s exclusive partnership with Uber launches this spring, SkyMiles members will be able to earn miles for eligible rides and deliveries across the U.S. once they link their Uber and SkyMiles accounts.

Here’s a breakdown of how much members could earn:

  • Airport rides: Earn 1 mile per dollar spent on UberX rides to and from airports.

  • Premium rides: Earn 2 miles per dollar spent on premium rides, such as Uber Comfort or Uber Black.

  • Uber Reserve: Earn 3 miles per dollar spent via Uber Reserve, which is a scheduled ride service that allows you to request trips in advance.

  • Uber Eats Orders: Earn 1 mile per dollar spent on $40+ restaurant and grocery orders via Uber Eats (the company’s delivery arm).

If you fly Delta and use Uber or Uber Eats, this partnership is a quick way to earn some extra miles, but there are some limitations. You won’t earn miles on regular UberX rides (unless the trip starts or ends at an airport). And that $40 minimum for Uber Eats in order to earn the miles might be tough to hit depending on your delivery size.

The program hasn’t launched yet. For now, you can join a waitlist, which will alert you when the earning opportunities go live. Upon launching, you’ll be able to link your Uber and Delta accounts to start earning miles on eligible purchases.

The end of an era for Lyft

Delta currently partners with Lyft in a similar arrangement to what Uber will offer. As part of that deal, Lyft riders earn 1 mile per dollar spent on every U.S. ride — not just airport rides. But, they only earn 2 miles per dollar spent on airport rides (which is less than the new 3 miles that Uber will offer).

But come spring 2025, when the Uber partnership goes into effect, Uber will become Delta’s exclusive rideshare partner, meaning the Lyft deal will end. Check out other ways to earn travel rewards with Lyft.

What else to expect from Delta in 2025 and 2026

Delta unveiled the Uber partnership during its keynote at CES 2025, alongside several other news drops, including:

  • Delta Concierge: Later this year, Delta will launch an AI-powered digital assistant in the Fly Delta app called Delta Concierge. It’s set to offer personalized travel assistance, such as alerts regarding upcoming passport expiration or visa requirements.

  • YouTube partnership: Starting this summer, SkyMiles members will be able to access YouTube Premium (ad-free) during their flights.

  • Improved in-flight entertainment: Beginning in 2026, Delta will roll out a cloud-based in-flight entertainment system featuring 4K HDR QLED screens, which basically just means a better, brighter picture on your seat back screen. The airline will also introduce Bluetooth connectivity and enhanced features like a “Do Not Disturb” mode and announcement translations.
