For December 2024, preliminary figures anticipate that the Global Indicator of Economic Activity (IGAE) registered an increase of 0.4%, compared to the previous month, a figure greater than the monthly growth expected for November, of 0.2%, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

If these figures are confirmed, economic activity in Mexico accelerated at the end of 2024, since in October, the IGAE registered a monthly drop of 0.7%, based on seasonally adjusted figures.

By groups of activities, it is anticipated that in December 2024, secondary activities (mining; construction; manufacturing; generation, transmission and distribution of water, electricity and gas) grew at a monthly rate of 0.3%, as did tertiary activities ( trade and services), which also increased 0.3%.

For November 2024, the estimated monthly growth is 0.1% for both secondary and tertiary activities.

Regarding December 2023, the appropriate figure indicates that the IGAE grew 1.1%; For November, the estimated annual growth is 0.6%, which would imply two continuous annual growths, after the 0.3% drop recorded in October.

By activity groups, an annual growth of 0.3% in secondary education and 2.1% in tertiary education is expected for December 2024.

By November 2024, tertiary activities grew at an annual rate of 1.6%, but secondary activities fell 0.9%, estimates Inegi.
