The Government of Ecuador said this Saturday that the State is on “maximum alert” after an intelligence report of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces alerted the alleged planning of “terrorist attacks” against the president, Daniel Noboa, and members of his cabinet.
Through a statement released in social networks, the Ministry of Government of Ecuador referred to an internal document of the Armed Forces, viralized on social networks on Friday, in which “transfers of hitmen from Mexico and other countries to Ecuador to carry out terrorist attacks against the President of the Republic and his work team” is mentioned.
The Office, dated April 17 and whose authenticity was confirmed by the Minister of Government, José de la Gasca, to local media, points out that these actions allegedly of criminal organizations have begun after the elections last Sunday, in which Noboa was re -elected in front of the Correct candidate Luisa González, who has denounced an alleged “fraud” discarded by the main international observation missions present in the elections.
In that report, the Armed Forces also alert the planning of other possible attacks towards the main bridges of the country, banks and other state institutions, and that actions would be planned to “heat the streets through demonstrations” that could become “violent”, without giving more details of the origin of the threats.
The document recommends strengthening the security of the president and the Ministers of State, as well as the military authorities.

Given this, the Ecuadorian Executive said that “the State is on a maximum alert” and that “all security protocols have been activated,” so that “the Armed Forces, the National Police and intelligence agencies are working in an articulated way to neutralize any threat.”
“Faced with the intelligence information that warns about the gestation of a magnicide, terrorist attacks and street warming through violent manifestations, we strongly condemn and repudiate any attempt to attempt against the President of the Republic, state authorities and public officials,” said the government.
The Ecuadorian Executive classified as “deplorable” that criminal structures, “in complicity with political sectors defeated at the polls, intend to impose chaos through violence, fear and terror”, not to mention the Correism, whose candidate has announced that he will present evidence of the supposed electoral “fraud” that insists on denouncing.
“These actions not only seek to destabilize the government, but to violate democracy, sovereignty, the peace of Ecuador and the rule of law,” added the ministry.
The Government of Ecuador also said that they will respond to these possible attacks with “all force.” “They will test our determination. They do not forget: we prevail and prevail. With faith in God and the strength of the State we will put each criminal on their knees,” he added.
President Noboa has been from Thursday in Florida (United States), to where he traveled to “attend personal matters”, and it is expected to return to the country next Tuesday.
Ecuador has been found from 2024 under an “internal armed conflict” that Noboa declared to face organized crime bands, whom he declared the “war” and went on to call them as “terrorists.”
Criminal organizations are behind the escalation of violence that led Ecuador to be located in 2023 as the Latin American country with the highest homicide index, while 2025 has begun as the most violent year since it has registered, with an average of approximately approximately an hour murder.
The wave of violence also includes local authorities, prosecutors who investigate drug trafficking and organized crime and politicians as the presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio.
