About twenty Mexican artists, including Alejandro Fernández ‘El Potrillo’, Paquita la del Barrio and Maná, asked this Wednesday to vote in the United States elections against the racism and “hatred of the campaign” of Donald Trump, former and current president. Republican candidate.

The interpreters joined the social media campaign ‘#YaEstuvo’ with which they seek to stop hate speech against immigrants, on the occasion of the presidential elections on November 5 between Trump and the vice president, Democrat Kamala Harris.

“Today we stand in solidarity in support of our Latino brothers and sisters. “Our support has to sound and feel louder than the hate of the Trump campaign,” they explained in a statement.

The initiative also has the support of the Tigres del Norte, Edén Muñoz, Ximena Sariñana and the Spanish Natalia Jiménez, among others.

The artists accuse those who “blame the country’s problems on the most vulnerable” of practicing an “old and worn-out political trick.”

In addition, they have created a video in which members of the Mexican music industry appear saying the campaign slogan which includes some racist statements by Trump directed at Mexican migrants in the US in which he accuses them of “bringing drugs and crime.” .

Following these statements appear fragments of videos of racist attacks on Latinos in the country by citizens that reproduce the accusations that the Republican usually makes publicly.

Among others, there is the case of Mahud Villalaz, a Peruvian man who was sprayed with acid outside a restaurant in Milwaukee by Clifton Blackwell, an American who declared he was acting in self-defense because Villalaz was invading his country.

“To those who spread a message of hate, we tell them that we will choose a better path, that of raising our voices in favor of doing the right thing, respecting human dignity,” they defend.
