The united commissions of Constitutional Points and Legislative Studies of the Senate approved, with 23 votes in favor of Morena and its allies, the reform that eliminates seven autonomous organizations.

The ruling, which proposes modifying 14 constitutional articles and 12 transitional articles, eliminates seven of these bodies, among them the National Institute of Transparency and Access to Public Information (Inai), whose functions would be assumed by the Secretariat of Anti-Corruption and Good Government ; as well as the IFT, Cofece, Coneval, Mejoredu, CNH and CRE.

According to the opinion, the defunct bodies will be replaced by new bodies, but dependent on the government itself, for example, the antitrust resolutions of the Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece) will be assumed by the Secretary of Economy.

Also included is creating a body that will concentrate the functions carried out by the Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece) and the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) in matters of economic competition.

In this way, there will be an “authority on free competition and competition” whose function will be to prevent, investigate and combat monopolies and concentrations in all markets.

This authority will have its own legal personality and assets, as well as be endowed with technical and operational independence in its decisions, organization and operation and will guarantee the separation between the authority that investigates and the one that resolves the procedures.

After the endorsement in Committees, the minutes of the reform regarding organic simplification were sent to the Board of Directors of the Senate for discussion and eventual approval in the Plenary.
