Another Douglas Elliman agent has made the jump to Corcoran.

Broker Steven Cohen and his 10-person team are returning to Corcoran after five years, the firm announced Wednesday. Cohen had previously been at Corcoran since 2000, and founded his eponymous team at the brokerage in 2017.

The Steven Cohen Team ranked as Elliman’s No. 3 small team nationwide last year, closing $152 million in sales in 2024.

Cohen, who has closed over $2.4 billion in sales in his career, will bring with him six additional agents and four administrative team members.

“The last five years at [Elliman] were really great for me,” he said. His move to Corcoran came together in a matter of weeks, even though he’d known “the door was always open.”

“When I’d see [Corcoran agents], they’d always ask when I was coming back,” he said.

A spokesperson for Douglas Elliman said in a statement, “We wish Steve all the best at Compass.”

Cohen returns to Corcoran with $110 million in active listings, including a $19 million penthouse at 535 West End Avenue.

In 2021, he brought the buyer of “Sex and the City” star Kim Cattrall’s $2.9 million cottage in East Hampton.

He’s joining Corcoran at a tumultuous time for the brokerage. Its parent company, Anywhere Real Estate, recently agreed to be acquired by Compass in an all-stock deal. The deal, which is expected to close late next year, would bring the city’s two top-ranked firms under the same umbrella.

Cohen has made a name for himself with deals for historic Manhattan homes and a roster of the city’s celebrity clients. In 2014, he sold a renovated neo-Georgian townhouse at 39 East 74th Street for almost $25 million. He also sold “Crazy Rich Asians” producer Sidney Kimmel’s Central Park South home for nearly $20 million and artist Abby Leigh’s Upper East Side townhouse for over $20 million.

Compass has thus far said that Anywhere’s brands will maintain their independence. It also remains to be seen how antitrust regulation will factor into how Compass and its subsidiaries operate from city to city.

Cohen said he’s not concerned about how the deal will play out at his new firm, which he said “holds a really special place, particularly in New York City.”

“I don’t think it will affect me,” he said. “Of course there will be some changes, but it’s not something I’m thinking about.”

Cohen will join a number of other Elliman brokers who have jumped to Corcoran recently.

Last month, one of the city’s top brokers Noble Black, who ranked fourth in The Real Deal’s 2024 ranking of the city’s top brokers, brought his team back to Corcoran, where he started his career. Earlier this year, veteran agents Kathy Murray and Kirsten Jordan, along with her eponymous team, switched from Elliman to Corcoran.

Corcoran hasn’t been the only recipient of Elliman defectors. Holly Parker and her New York-based team and “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles” star Tracy Tutor both departed the firm for Compass this year.
