Avtar Sehmbi has built a career defined by vision, scale and transformation. From the street markets of London to the boardrooms of Fortune 50 companies, they have spent three decades proving that technology and operations are inseparable in building the future of business.

His entrepreneurial instinct emerged early, selling alongside his father in London before scaling the family business into global distribution and then venturing into the foreign exchange markets. These experiences honed his ability to read risk, opportunity, and scale—skills that would shape his corporate leadership.

At HSBC he built operating models in more than 60 countries. At Deloitte, he launched technology and risk functions in Europe. At Verizon and Céntrica he strengthened resilience, influenced national regulation, and developed digital infrastructures that impacted millions of customers and billions in assets. Its “people first” philosophy remains: “Respect builds trust, trust builds movements that allow businesses to scale.”

His work also extended to national priorities: He designed smart metering regulations to meet the UK’s 2035 carbon reduction mandate and created infrastructure for Save the Children. As he states: “Profit and purpose are not rivals, they are partners in progress.”

Michael Seidl and Propaga: the financial shield of Mexican stores

In Mexico there are more than a million corner stores, compared to only 20 thousand OXXO. These small businesses represent 15% of the national GDP, but have historically been neglected by the financial system. This is where Propaga comes in, the startup co-founded by Michael Seidl (CEO) and Santiago Creixell (COO), which seeks to revolutionize retail commerce through digitalization and access to credit.

Propaga offers grocers immediate, digital financing, allowing them to extend payment terms while suppliers receive their money instantly. “We are building the financial shield of small stores against the advance of the self-service channel,” says Seidl.

Propaga seeks to reach every corner of the country and expand to Latin America, establishing itself as a key actor in the financial inclusion of the region.

Simar Bedi, CEO of Sol Recycling and its program “Winning with waste”

That’s exactly what Sol Recycling, a Canadian sustainability company owned by Simar Bedi, who is also its CEO, is demonstrating with its innovative “Profit from Waste” program.

The company just opened a state-of-the-art recycling plant in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, that pays local companies for their trash.

Business partners drop off their daily waste, which Sol’s advanced sorting technology separates, processes and resells to manufacturers.

Participating businesses earn money or credits for materials that would normally have ended up in the landfill, while Sol Recycling converts what’s left into clean energy.

“Trash should not go to waste,” says founder and CEO Simar Bedi. “By putting a value on waste, we motivate people to recycle more and help build a circular economy—one where sustainability and profitability go hand in hand.”

With the capacity to process more than 10,000 tonnes of plastics, metals, glass and organics each month, the plant is redefining the concept of waste management in Canada.

Julio “Pico Mcguire” Castells: from nightlife to film production and AI

Julio “Pico Mcguire” Castells is an example of reinvention. From being an icon of nightlife in Miami Beach, he went on to become an investor and executive film producer, leading the project Lake George and demonstrating that it is possible to produce low-budget films with great returns, when creativity is combined with intelligent marketing strategies.

But McGuire looks further: his mission is to bring artificial intelligence to the film industry in Mexico, Central and South America, driving a new era where technology redefines the way films are produced and marketed.

“Serious things happen to serious people. I live with a new purpose and I want my work to reflect that vision.” His experience in finance and entertainment makes him a bridge between Hollywood and the Latin American region, betting on content with cultural and economic impact.
