Ericsson has appointed Sean Cryan as the new president for North Latin America and the Caribbean. In its new role, it will promote the adoption of 5G networks in Latin America, with an focus on promoting innovation, strengthening competitiveness and increasing productivity in the region.
Cryan has extensive experience in the technology and telecommunications industry. He began his career in Vodafone and joined Ericsson in 2007, since then he has occupied several leadership roles, as head of software and cloud services for the Americas, key accounts manager within the T-Mobile client unit, country manager for Ericsson Nigeria, and led mobile financial services within the Global Customer Unit of MTN, in the middle of the East and Africa.
This appointment aligns a business reorganization, in which Ericsson has integrated Latin America into a new market area called Las Américas, which consolidates its operations in North America (United States and Canada) and Latin America, a region that has the great potential to take advantage of digitalization to boost sustainable economic development. This alignment seeks to improve operational efficiency and reinforces Ericsson’s commitment to advance global digitalization.
Leading this new market area is Yossi Cohen as president and CEO of Ericsson Américas, who has been part of the company for more than a decade, providing great experience in promoting innovation and growth within the telecommunications industry.
North Latin America and the Caribbean is a key market area that covers more than 39 territories, 7 different languages and 2 factories. Now that the region is part of the Americas, Ericsson will continue to promote greater connectivity with innovative solutions such as FWA, closing digital gaps and improving the competitiveness and innovation of the region.
In addition, Latin American markets will have the opportunity to exchange experiences with the United States and Canada. According to the Ericsson Mobility Report report, these are two of the countries where the adoption of 5G has been stronger, closing 2024 with 71% of the total mobile subscribers connected to 5g.
