The United States Government announced on Thursday the arrest of the well -known Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez Jr., which he accuses of participating in organized crime and arms trafficking linked to the Sinaloa poster, and confirmed his next deportation.
“This affiliate from the Sinaloa cartel, with an arrest warrant in force for arms, ammunition and explosives, was arrested by the United States Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE),” said the Undersecretary of the Department of National Security (DHS), Tricia McLaughlin, in a statement.
He also said that “its accelerated expulsion from the United States is being processed. This affiliate from the Sinaloa Cartel has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for its participation in organized crime and traffic of firearms, ammunition and explosives.”
According to the document, “Chávez is a Mexican citizen who has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his participation in organized crime and trafficking of firearms, ammunition and explosives.”
The DHS explained that the boxer legally entered the United States in August 2023 with a B2 tourist visa valid until February 2024.
“It is believed that Chavez is an affiliate from the Sinaloa Cartel, a designated foreign terrorist organization. ICE arrested Chávez in Studio City, California, on July 2.”
According to the DHS, “on April 2, 2024, Chávez filed a request for legal permanent residence. Chávez’s request was based on his marriage to an American citizen, linked to the Sinaloa cartel for a previous relationship with the son, already deceased, of the infamous leader of the Joaquín Cartel” El Chapo ‘Guzmán. “
