The United States Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, praised Mexico and the United Kingdom for refraining from applying the eye for a tariff eye to the United States, and warned that those commercial partners who bother President Donald Trump with their responses to US protectionist measures are exposed to a severe reaction.

“If you do it unhappy, you answer unhappy,” Lutnick told Bloomberg TV about Trump’s decision on Thursday to apply a 200% tariff to alcoholic products of the European Union, in reaction to the reprisals of the block against the new US tariffs to steel and aluminum.

Trump’s intention is to “knock down those walls” that prevent the entry of American products and develop manufacturing capacity in crucial industries for national security, he said.

He added that the countries that understand that reason and are willing to collaborate with the US will receive a different treatment.

“The British did not respond, the Mexicans did not respond; There are countries that really carefully analyze how they do business with us, ”he said.

For countries that “return to traditional eye measures for an eye,” “the president will face them strongly and power,” he warned.
