The United States refuses to co -cross a UN resolution project that commemorates the three years of Ukraine invasion by Moscow and supports kyiv’s territorial integrity and demands again that Russia withdraw their troops, three diplomatic sources told Reuters , in a possible radical change of the most powerful western ally in Ukraine.
Countries can decide to co -cross a resolution until it is voted. The General Assembly of 193 members will vote on Monday, they said diplomats. The resolutions of the General Assembly are not binding, but they have political weight, which reflects a global vision of the war.
“In previous years, the United States has systematically co -matocinated this type of resolutions in support of a fair peace in Ukraine,” said one of the sources on Thursday, which like the others requested anonymity to discuss delicate issues.
The first diplomatic source told Reuters that the resolution was being sponsored by more than 50 countries, declining identifying them.
A second diplomatic source that also requested anonymity said: “For now, the situation is that they (the United States) will not sign it.” Efforts are being made to seek the support of other countries, including the Global South, added the source.

A spokesman for the United States diplomatic mission to the United Nations in Geneva did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
The UN vote occurs in the middle of a growing gap between Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, and the president of the United States, Donald Trump, who is trying to quickly end war in Ukraine and whose team has had conversations with conversations with Russia without kyiv’s participation.
The dispute is a great political crisis for Ukraine, which has used tens of thousands of dollars of US military aid agreed under the previous US administration to become the Russian invasion and has also benefited from diplomatic support.
The draft of the UN resolution, to which Reuters had access, “asks for a decalm international”.
Also “recalls the need for the full application of its relevant resolutions approved in response to aggression against Ukraine, in particular its requirement that the Russian Federation immediately, completely and unconditionally with all its military forces of the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders ”.
Russia has taken over about 20% of Ukraine and is gaining territory in the east slowly but constantly. Moscow said his “special military operation” responded to an existential threat raised by kyiv’s search to enter NATO. Ukraine and the West qualify the action of Russia as imperialist appropriation of land.
