New Jersey postponed up to at least April 30 the final decision on whether Donald Trump’s serious crime disqualifies two of his golf clubs to obtain licenses to sell alcoholic beverages, one of the few potential repercussions of his guilt verdict.

In May 2024, a jury of Manhattan declared Trump guilty of 34 serious charges for falsification of commercial records related to a money payment to silence Stormy Daniels during the last days of the 2016 presidential campaign. Each position is punished with a fine of up to $ 5,000 per crime and/or up to four years in prison.

The Law of New Jersey prohibits people convicted of crimes that “involve moral depravation” (a category that includes “dishonesty, fraud or depravity” “serious enough to be typically punished with more than a year in prison) have a license to sell alcoholic beverages, according to a state manual, first published by Forbes in June 2024.

After Trump’s conviction and Forbes investigation, the state’s alcoholic beverage control division decided not to renew liquor licenses in two of his clubs, in Bedminster and Colts Neck, and instead grant 90 -day provisional permissions and schedule a trial after his sentence.

Trump’s judgment was delayed, the beverage control hearing was postponed and temporary licenses extended after the United States Supreme Court extended the scope of presidential immunity in July 2024.

While Trump was formally convicted in January 2025, when Manhattan’s judge granted him an “unconditional release” following his re -election, Trump clubs continue to operate under temporary licenses, which will now expire on April 30, told Forbes on Tuesday a spokesman for the New Jersey Attorney General, Allison Insertro.

A spokesman for the Trump organization did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

“Provisional permits for the two licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages extended until April 30, 2025,” Insertro to Forbes told. “The alcoholic beverage control division has no further comments.”
“President Trump has no license to sell alcoholic beverages in New Jersey, neither is an official nor director of any entity who has a license to sell alcoholic beverages in New Jersey, nor any other place in the United States,” according to a statement that a spokesman for the Trump organization provided to the media after the initial report of Forbes.

Trump is the only owner of the two clubs under investigation. The businesses mentioned in alcohol selling licenses are owned by a revocable trust, and Trump is the only provider of provider of the trust assets and also its only beneficiary. The New Jersey ABC newspaper concluded that “Trump maintains a direct beneficiary interest” in alcohol sales licenses by receiving income and profits derived from them.

The income that Trump reported his clubs in Bedminster and Colts Neck in his August 2024 financial statement, which covered around 16 months, were for 53,561,915 million dollars.

It is not clear if New Jersey drink control will reach a final decision on Trump’s liquor licenses before April 30 or if it will extend the temporal permits.

The presidential seal has appeared in golf markers in five Trump golf courses, a possible violation of the federal law that prohibits its use for commercial purposes.

The Trump’s Club in Colts Neck paid a fine of $ 400,000 after a fatal car accident in 2005, in which a customer who had been drinking was involved.

Police reported that driver’s blood alcohol concentration at that time exceeded the legal limit of 0.08. The Trump’s club was accused of serving alcohol to a person who was “real or apparently intoxicated” and providing alcohol in the golf course out of reach of his alcoholic beverage license.

Donald Trump has a patrimony of approximately 4.8 billion dollars, and Trump Media shares constitute most of his fortune.
