Season 2 of Fallout has done a lot to set up the villain that is Robert House, but the finale proves that there is an even bigger threat. Robert House is a major figure in the Fallout universe as far as the games are concerned, but there is an organization that appears to be ahead of even House.
Throughout season 2, Fallout has revealed that the Enclave is still an active force in the post-apocalyptic US, but before the finale, they remained largely shrouded in mystery. Interestingly, it is Robert House himself who reveals a lot of the most pressing details about these powerful new rivals who are set to play a major role in season 3 and beyond.
Robert House Was Being Set Up To Be The Central Antagonist In Fallout Season 2
The very first episode of Fallout season 2 introduces the audience to the real Robert House, and over the course of the season, the character becomes ever more prevalent as his and Cooper Howard’s stories intertwine. He is shown to be rich, powerful, and willing to do anything to further his own ambitions.
In the finale of the season, Robert House, reanimated on a computer screen, has a heart-to-heart with Cooper Howard, who has become a monstrous mercenary over the 200 years of living in the Wasteland. It’s in this conversation that Robert reveals important details about the organization that even he couldn’t control.
The Enclave Was Always One Step Ahead Of Robert House In Fallout
Robert House is very open with Cooper about how the Enclave managed to exceed his expectations, and despite his rigorous equations to determine the end of the world, House was blindsided by the progress that the Enclave managed to make without his knowledge.
As much as he was able to find out about things like the cold fusion reaction and Vault-Tec’s efforts to control minds, he had no idea about the Forced Evolutionary Virus, which produced the Deathclaws, until Cooper saw them in the middle of the Vietnam War. This breakthrough and their hidden research ultimately led to the end of the world, and House being unprepared when that time came.
The Enclave Will Play A Much Larger Role In Season 3
At the end of Fallout season 2, the apparent headquarters of the Enclave is revealed as a massive building that is housed in a large canyon, away from any civilization. Clearly, they are a force to be reckoned with, and they will be a major target for the super mutants, along with other survivors like Lucy and Maximus.
Now that the Enclave has been unveiled, and they appear to be very active in the post-apocalypse, with communications from Hank MacLean and Steph Harper proving they are controlling things from a distance, it seems inevitable that they will be back in Fallout season 3 and beyond.
