Bloodborne fans have been nothing if not committed over the years, holding on to even the faintest glimmer of hope that an official remaster or next-gen remake might suddenly appear or be announced out of the blue. Unfortunately, if you thought things were bleak as a Bloodborne fan before, a new disappointing development is about to prove it can get a lot worse.
After Sony’s decision to shut down Bluepoint Games for good—the studio behind the critically acclaimed Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus remakes—players have accepted that there is virtually no hope for an official Bloodborne remake or next-gen upgrade.
“We’re never getting a remake now,” P4PSparringChampion says on Reddit, while users like AdPractical953 say their final goodbyes, “Bloodborne Remake RIP.”
Bloodborne Fans Lament Bluepoint Closure
Studio Behind Demon’s Souls PS5 Remake Is Shutting Down
While there has never been a great reason for Bloodborne fans to keep their hopes up for a possible remake or next-gen port, that hasn’t stopped them from keeping their fingers crossed for an official announcement or surprise reveal at just about any and every official PlayStation event.
If a remake of Bloodborne were ever to happen, many players surmised that Bluepoint Games would be the studio of choice. Considering their massive success with the PS5 remake of Demon’s Souls, which was widely hailed as one of the console’s best games at launch, it seemed like the logical home for a Bloodborne remake in a similar fashion.
Sadly, on February 19, 2026, Sony announced they had made the decision to close down Bluepoint Games for good, and any last hopes that a Bloodborne remake was possible were quickly dashed to bits. Fans took to the internet, mourning the remake that never was.
ishimura0802 says, “you have got to be kidding me,” while players like kironex is baffled, pointing out “a Bloodborne remake is guaranteed money. Literally petitions made for it. Modders making it themselves and most Fromsoft fans were hoping it was Bluepoint’s next project.”

Some Are Still Hopeful For A 60fps Upgrade
Bloodborne players weren’t ever certain that a Bluepoint Games remake would happen, but now that it’s off the table for sure, they’re obviously a bit disappointed. With hopes of a remake being obliterated, players can only keep their fingers crossed now that an official PC and/or next-gen port will drop… somewhere, somehow.
That said, not all gamers really wanted a full Bloodborne remake from the ground up to begin with, at least in the same way Bluepoint did Demon’s Souls, with fans like dawgrush arguing, “it doesn’t need a remake,” and fans like Bulldogfront666 saying “it just needs a 60 fps update and maybe some upgraded textures.”
Bloodborne players will have to agree to disagree on this one, and it’s a bit of a moot point anyway, given the likelihood of a Bloodborne remake happening after Bluepoint’s closure is at an all-time low.
