The president of the Senate, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, acknowledged on Tuesday that in the lists of candidates for judges delivered by the legislative and judicial powers for the judicial elections of June 1, candidates who have defended drug traffickers were included.

“Yes we have detected, for example, some drug dealers who are wanting to access. They should not participate, they do not meet the constitutional demand for probity; it seems to me that there are some cases that should (withdraw),” said Fernández Noroña to the media, although he did not specify figures or names.

Given this scenario, Fernández Noroña called the National Electoral Institute (INE) to cancel its records.

“And they should not wait for the election to have been, I think the record should be withdrawn to those who do not comply,” he added.

In addition, he considered that “it would be unfortunate for a accredited drug deer or a judge who has released Narcos, accredited, with systematic conduct (becomes a judge or magistrate).”

Therefore, he stressed that “it should be before the choice when they make those determinations.”

Fernández Noroña accepted that the legislative, judicial and executive powers were responsible for doing that review “and the review was made and it is not a jiribilla but most, we have them accounted for, most are from the Judiciary, but there is some of the legislative power.”

“I believe that it is time to withdraw candidacies that do not meet the requirement, they are not many and I think there are, and they also open to make citizens make signs must resolve it before the election. I do not see the reason for them to wait until there has been the electoral process,” he concluded.

The judicial election of June 1, which is called a record of 99.7 million voters, will allow 3,422 citizens to compete in a elections for one of the 881 charges in courts, courts, the new court of judicial discipline, the Electoral Court and the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.
