The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported on Wednesday that he appealed the resolution of a judge who rejected in 2014 to open an investigation against the ex -official of the then Attorney General’s Office (PGR), Judith Aracely Gómez, for the purchase of the ‘Pegasus’ software to spy on journalists and human rights defenders.

In addition, the FGR announced that it will open a investigation folder against federal judge Alejandra Domínguez Santos.

In a statement, the entity explained that it asked the Federal Judge of Control the link to the former official for the illegal acquisition in 2014 of espionage equipment (Pegasus) for the then PGR, today the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).

In the report it is reported that after two and a half years of “illegal delay”, the judge granted the hearing to determine “the non -linking of the person indicated”, to which the crimes of improper use of powers and powers were charged to breach the obligation to supervise the hiring in question.

In addition, in the list of crimes, peculation was included for participating in the “illegal diversion of resources, without the risk, urgency or confidentiality necessary for these purchases.”

Likewise, the accusatory list includes the illicit “equated fraud”, breaking its obligations and participating in an operation that clearly affected “seriously” the heritage of the institution, for the benefit of the supplier; and the crime of “criminal association”, by participating in the offense indicated in conjunction with other public servants of the institution.

In summary, the FGR notes that the accused is accused of “having allowed the illegal acquisition of these espionage teams, without demonstrating that there was a need for it, paying 460 million pesos (about 24.17 million dollars), which meant serious irreparable damage to public heritage”.

The Mexican Prosecutor’s Office pointed out that “despite all those evidence offered by the Prosecutor’s Office, the control judge decided not to link (to Judith Aracely Gómez) to the process.”

The text specifies that the FGR initiated the corresponding appeal and also the opening of an investigation to the control judge, Alejandra Domínguez Santos, for crimes against the administration of justice.
