Mexico City, (EFE) .- The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) announced that it opened a investigation folder for the murder of prosecutor Ernesto Vázquez Reyna, killed in an attack with grenades and shots in the city of Reynosa.

In a statement, the FGR said that due to unusual violence and the “brutality” of the crime committed, there would be “a solid probability that this fact comes from organized crime.”

This, he added, because in the last days of July, organized crime in Tamaulipas “had a serious collapse” when the Ministry of National Defense, along with the FGR and the security cabinet seized more than 1.8 million liters of gasoline and other fuels, which had been stolen by criminal gangs.

In addition to the assurance of nine tractocamions, 12 motobombs, 39 mobile storage tanks, three vehicles, two energy generators and an industrial barredora.

The Prosecutor’s Office also said that he has made “immediate” contact with the victim’s family with whom he showed “absolute solidarity” and promised them permanent support and inform them, step by step, the progress of the corresponding investigation and its results.

Hours before, President Claudia Sheinbaum had said during her morning press conference that her government would support to do justice about the murder of Vázquez Reyna.

On Monday the murder of Vázquez Reyna in the city of Reynosa transcended, although until now the details of the crime are officially unknown.

According to a video posted on social networks, the official is allegedly stopped in the street, as he had descended from the vehicle in which he moves, but minutes later a group of armed men, aboard a car, shot against him to kill him.

Criminal organizations such as the Northeast poster (CDN), the old Zetas, and Gulf Cartel (CDG), a criminal organization that controls the Tamaulipas area, maintain a dispute over the control of the northeast states of Mexico since March 2010, conflict that has caused thousands of dead and missing.
