The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported the obtaining of 62.8 million pesos as reparation for damage to the State, by two former officials related to the corruption plot known as the ‘Master Scam’.

The Prosecutor’s Office, now headed by Ernestina Godoy, noted in a statement that the two accused are Ricardo ‘M’, former official of the Ministry of Social Development (Sedesol), and José ‘M’, former rector of the Intercultural University of the State of Mexico (UIEM).

Both are accused of the crime of misuse of powers and powers.

The FGR specified that the former officials “signed an agreement in which irregularities were noted, due to the fact that the best conditions were not guaranteed for the State in terms of price, quality, opportunity and other pertinent circumstances.”

He indicated that the UIEM “subcontracted all of the previously agreed services” with Sedesol “at a lower price, which caused damage to the federal public treasury for the indicated amount.”

Upon verifying the above, the FGR obtained the judicial resolution ordering, specifically, the payment of 62.8 million pesos.

Finally, the institution pointed out that “as long as” the accused guarantee or cover “the full payment of the reparation of the damage to the State to which they were sentenced”, they will be able to obtain “legal substitutes”, that is, benefits contemplated in the Federal Penal Code.

The ‘Master Scam’ was a corruption plot that occurred during the government of Enrique Peña Nieto.

Revealed in 2017 by a journalistic investigation, the scheme involved various federal agencies that used a systematic scheme to divert billions of pesos.

Among the accused officials, Rosario Robles stands out, who was imprisoned from 2019 to 2022, accused of the alleged diversion of public resources while she was in charge of the Headquarters, from 2012 to 2015, and of the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development, between 2015 and 2018.
