Chihuahua, Chihuahua.- Juan Antonio Hinojosa, vice president in Risk Management Stonex Financial Inc., warned that the United States government does not plan to arrive at the living livestock from Mexico in 2026, because they are shielding any swelling of a baranger worm.

“It is the cold water bucket, a report from the Department of Agriculture shows that there will be zero export of live cattle to the United States, which can change with an agreement between both governments,” he said in the 2025 agri -food forum, organized by the National Agricultural Council (CNA).

“Today, as the United States sees it, it is zero export of live cattle from Mexico, because with this they seek to control a spread of the boreride worm,” he said.

He commented that Mexico exports more than one million 200 thousand heads of cattle to the United States, but for this year it will close in 240 thousand cattle and there will be no export or sale for next year.

He said that the government of Claudia Sheinbaum must work on the eradication of the cheap worm so that there is an opening of Mexican cattle exports to the United States.

“I do not know what agreements can have at the high levels of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with the United States government, but it is a problem that we need to solve quickly. The propagation of the boreride worm must stop either with measures, with more filters and increase the health fences,” added Juan Antonio Hinojosa.

“Mexico must be exporting a million 200 thousand head of cattle 2 years ago and in 2026 it will have zero export, of course there is an important impact for producers,” he concluded.
