At least five people have died in one of the active and uncontrolled fires that hit Los Angeles County and more than 1,100 businesses and other buildings have burned, local authorities told US media.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna confirmed to NBC the death toll in the Eaton Fire in the community of Altadena, after authorities announced early in the morning that two lives had been lost.

The fire broke out last night in northern Los Angeles County and is especially affecting the city of Pasadena.

So far it has burned more than 4,289 hectares and destroyed hundreds of homes.

According to information from the Los Angeles Times, at least 1,100 businesses, homes and other structures have burned in the flames that are advancing out of control in the county, driven by a wind storm known as the Santa Ana winds.

Among the multiple fires that devastate the region is also the Palisades fire, the largest active fire to date, which began on Tuesday morning and has currently devastated 39,121 hectares in one of the most exclusive areas of the city. of the stars.

There is still no record of deaths in that area, but in a conference, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone reported that there were significant injuries among residents who did not evacuate and it is estimated that 1,000 structures have burned in flames.

Another of the strong fires that are advancing quickly is the Hurst Fire in Sylmar, north of the city, in the last few hours it has expanded by 1,729 hectares.

Currently 150,000 people in California are under evacuation orders and none of the fires have a percentage of containment, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) website.
