The Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office confirmed this Thursday that Omar Bravo, World Cup player in Germany-2006, has two more investigation folders, prior to the report of alleged sexual abuse of a minor for which he was arrested last Saturday.

“There is a history, apparently from two previous folders that are on file. It is being reviewed to give them the precise information, but the one that is open and current is only one,” explained Lidia Canales Rodríguez, official of the Specialized Investigation Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to Women, Girls, Adolescents, Gender and Family of Jalisco.

The public servant added that each of the previous investigation folders belong to different victims and that “they need to review them” to know if they could be aggravating in their current case.

Bravo, 44, was captured on Saturday in an operation in the center of Zapopan, after a complaint.

“Due to their alleged responsibility in the crime of aggravated child sexual abuse, elements of the investigative police assigned to the Deputy Prosecutor’s Office in investigation specializing in care for women, girls, boys and adolescents, gender and family, managed to capture a man, identified as Omar ‘N’,” the prosecutor’s office said in a press release.

According to investigations, the retired forward had abused a teenager on different occasions in recent months and it is presumed that he had previously committed similar actions.

Bravo, a member of the Mexican team that won the Gold Cup in 2003 and 2009, remains in preventive detention waiting to be linked to criminal proceedings.

The former striker is considered one of the most important figures of Chivas del Guadalajara, one of the two most popular teams in Mexico and of which he is the all-time scorer with 160 goals.

In addition to wearing the Chivas shirt, the attacker played for Spanish club Deportivo La Coruña and for Tigres UANL, Cruz Azul, Atlas and Leones Negros from Mexico. In the United States he was a figure in Sporting Kansas City, North Carolina and Phoenix Rising.
