In a monthly report, the ministry forecasts wine production of 36.9 million hectoliters this year, down from the 37.5 million forecast last month and 23% below last year’s small harvest, which saw wide disparities. between regions.

The revised forecast, based on the latest harvest results, is 17% lower than the five-year average of 44.2 million hectoliters.
One hectoliter is equivalent to 100 liters or 133 standard bottles of wine.
Champagne recorded the sharpest drop in production this year among the large producing regions, with a decrease of 46% compared to a good 2023 and 31% below the five-year average.
