From OpenAI to Nvidia, companies pour billions into AI infrastructure as demand booms

Nvidia has agreed to license technology from artificial intelligence startup Groq for use in some of its AI chips, marking the company’s biggest deal and highlighting its drive to strengthen competitiveness in the face of growing demand.

Here is the list of multi-billion dollar AI, cloud and chip deals signed recently:

AGREEMENTS WITH OPENAI

AMAZON Y OPENAI

Amazon is considering an investment of around $10 billion in OpenAI, although negotiations remain “very fluid,” according to a source who requested anonymity due to the private nature of the talks.

DISNEY AND OPENAI

Walt Disney will invest $1 billion in OpenAI and allow the creator of ChatGPT to use Star Wars, Pixar and Marvel characters in its Sora AI video generator, a move that could transform content creation in Hollywood.

As part of the three-year licensing agreement, Sora and ChatGPT Images will begin generating videos featuring licensed Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Cinderella and Mufasa early next year. The agreement excludes any likenesses or voice talents.

BROADCOM Y OPENAI

OpenAI has partnered with Broadcom to produce its first in-house AI processors, the latest deal from the world’s most valuable startup in demand for computing power.

AMD AND OPENAI

AMD agreed to supply AI chips to OpenAI in a multi-year deal that will also give OpenAI the option to buy up to about 10% of the chip company.

NVIDIA Y OPENAI

Nvidia will invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI and supply it with data center chips, in a deal that gives Nvidia financial stake in OpenAI. OpenAI is already a major Nvidia customer.

ORACLE AND OPENAI

Oracle has reportedly signed one of the largest cloud deals with OpenAI, under which the ChatGPT creator will buy $300 billion in computing power over about five years.

COREWEAVE AND OPENAI

CoreWeave signed a five-year, $11.9 billion deal with OpenAI in March, ahead of the Nvidia-backed startup’s initial public offering.

STARGATE DATACENTER PROJECT

Stargate is a joint venture between SoftBank, OpenAI and Oracle to build data centers. The project was announced in January by US President Donald Trump, who said companies would invest up to $500 billion to fund artificial intelligence infrastructure.

META AND COREWEAVE

CoreWeave signed a $14 billion deal with Meta to supply computing power to Facebook’s parent company.

Oracle is in negotiations with Meta for a multi-year cloud deal worth about $20 billion, highlighting the social network’s interest in securing quick access to computing power.

Google signed a six-year cloud computing deal with Meta Platforms for more than $10 billion, according to Reuters in August.

META Y SCALE AI

Meta acquired a 49% stake in Scale AI for about $14.3 billion and brought in its 28-year-old CEO, Alexandr Wang, to play a leading role in the company’s artificial intelligence strategy.

NVIDIA AGREEMENTS

NVIDIA Y GROQ

Nvidia agreed to license chip technology from startup Groq and hire its CEO Jonathan Ross, who helped Google launch its AI chip program, among other engineers. CNBC reported that Nvidia agreed to acquire Groq’s assets for $20 billion.

MICROSOFT, NVIDIA Y ANTHROPIC

Microsoft will invest up to $5 billion and Nvidia up to $10 billion in Anthropic, while the creator of Claude will allocate $30 billion to run its workloads in the Microsoft cloud.

Under the agreement, Anthropic will commit up to 1 gigawatt of compute, using advanced Nvidia hardware such as Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin, and collaborate with Nvidia to improve AI chips and models.

GROUP BACKED BY NVIDIA AND ALIGNED DATA CENTERS

A group of investors, including BlackRock, Microsoft and Nvidia, will buy Aligned Data Centers in the US, one of the world’s largest data center operators with nearly 80 facilities, in a $40 billion deal.

NVIDIA AND INTEL

Nvidia will invest $5 billion in Intel, obtaining approximately 4% of the company after issuing new shares.

COREWEAVE Y NVIDIA

CoreWeave signed an initial $6.3 billion order with Nvidia, ensuring the AI ​​chip maker will buy any cloud capacity not sold to customers.

GOOGLE Y TEXAS
Google will invest $40 billion in three new data centers in Texas through 2027, one in Armstrong County and two in Haskell County.

The company will also continue to invest in its Midlothian campus and the Dallas region, part of its global network of 42 cloud regions.

GOOGLE AND WINDSURF
Google has hired several key employees from AI code generation startup Windsurf and will pay $2.4 billion in licenses to use some of its technology under non-exclusive terms.

Nebius Group will supply GPU infrastructure capacity to Microsoft in a $17.4 billion deal over five years.

INTEL Y SOFTBANK GROUP
Intel will receive a $2 billion capital injection from SoftBank Group, making the Japanese investor one of the struggling US company’s top 10 shareholders.

TESLA Y SAMSUNG
Tesla signed a $16.5 billion deal to source chips from Samsung Electronics, and CEO Elon Musk indicated the South Korean company’s new chip factory in Texas will make Tesla’s next-generation AI6 chip.

AMAZON Y ANTHROPIC
Amazon invested $4 billion in Anthropic, doubling its investment in the OpenAI competitor known for its GenAI Claude chatbot.
