Geico is doubling down on Dallas-Fort Worth.
The Maryland–based insurer is leasing a second building at Galatyn Commons as part of a major North Texas expansion that will add 1,000 jobs to the region, the Dallas Morning News reported.
The 165,000-square-foot lease at 2375 North Glenville Drive will bring Geico’s Richardson office space to nearly 400,000 square feet.
The lease is another win for Galatyn Commons, a five-building office complex in Richardson that’s attracted a range of corporate tenants over the years, including RealPage and Ericsson, and houses offices for Goldman Sachs and CBRE.
Singapore-based Mapletree Investments bought the complex in 2022, and Geico expects to open its building this fall.
This is the second hiring boost from Geico in just four months after the company announced in December it would add 500 roles to its Richardson campus.
The company has operated out of that location, the former Fossil headquarters at 2280 North Greenville Avenue, since 2016.
Geico’s growing headcount reflects strong business performance in the region, the company said. DFW continues to attract insurers, financial services firms and other white-collar employers seeking large talent pools and lower costs. Geico’s added jobs are in sales, service and claims.
The company cited North Texas’ highly educated, bilingual workforce as a key driver of its success in the state, crediting the region’s talent pipeline for enabling “significant growth” and “valuable career opportunities, ” Geico Senior Vice President Melissa Gallaroin said in a news release.
Once the latest round of hiring is complete, Geico will have nearly doubled its presence in the city, reinforcing North Texas as a major operations hub for the company, which was founded in Fort Worth in 1936.
The broader Richardson submarket has remained relatively resilient as companies look for office space with solid infrastructure and proximity to DART rail and suburban housing.
