Gene Simmons, Liev Schreiber, Mayim Bialik and Sharon Osbourne, are some of the 1,200 artists who joined to sign an open letter published Thursday that rejects the call to the boycott of Israeli cinematographic institutions for the war in Gaza.
“Censoring the same voices that try to find a common point and express their humanity is wrong, ineffective and a form of collective punishment,” says the writing issued by non -profit organizations Creative Community for Peace and The Brigade.
The letter arrives two weeks after about 4,000 artists and people from the film industry, including Oliva Colman, Emma Stone or Javier Bardem, signed another statement promoted by the Film World For Palestine group in which they asked the sector not to collaborate with linked Israeli companies, according to their words, with “the genocide and apartheid against the Palestinian people”.

This new brief also includes names such as Greg Berlanti, Jerry O’Connell, Howie Mandel, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Lisa Edelstein, Erin Foster or Anthony Edwards, among others, and occurs shortly after Paramount Studios publicly condemn the promise of Boicot.
“The promise released under the slogan ‘Film Workers for Palestine’ is not an act of consciousness. It is a disinformation document that advocates arbitrary censorship and the suppression of art,” he deepens the open letter, which ensures that the Israeli entertainment industry is “a vibrant collaboration center between artists and creators Jewish and Palestinians,” says the letter.
The boycott manifesto was originally published on September 8 and undertakes to “not project films, not to appear to work in any way with Israeli cinematographic institutions – including festivals, cinemas, stations and producers – that are involved in the genocide and ‘apartheid’ against the Palestinian people”.
The agreement also had the firm of Yorgos Lanthimos, Ava Duvernay, Mark Ruffalo, Gael García Bernal, Melissa Barrera, Cynthia Nixon, Tilda Swinton, Joe Alwyn or Josh O’Connor.
