General Motors (GM) and NVIDIA announced on Tuesday an agreement by which the car manufacturer will use in their vehicles the technology of the chip company, driving aid systems and even in their production plants.

The two companies indicated in a statement that they will work to develop artificial intelligence (AI) systems “to optimize plant and robotics planning of GM” using the Nvidia Ommniverse platforms with Nvidia Cosmos.

In addition, GM will use Nvidia Drive Agx in its vehicles “for future advanced driving aid systems.”

The agreement was initially announced on Tuesday by the executive director of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, in an event prior to the company’s developer conference that will be held in California.

Huang declared that the agreement will allow GM “to build its future autonomous car fleet.”

Huang also presented Halos, a security system that integrates the NVIDIA automotive hardware and software safety solutions with its avant -garde investigation in AI for the safety of future autonomous vehicles.

In a statement, the CEO of GM, Mary Barra, highlighted the AI ​​potential for the car manufacturer.

“The AI ​​not only optimizes manufacturing processes and accelerates virtual tests but also helps build vehicles while empowering our workforce to concentrate on crafts,” he explained.
