The government blocked 13 casinos for alleged money laundering in Mexico City, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Sonora, Baja California, State of Mexico and Chiapas.
The Treasury reported in a statement that cash operations, international flows and the use of unsupervised digital platforms were detected.
“Due to their high financial risk, they were listed as blocked legal entities to protect users and prevent these spaces from being used by organized crime,” he explained.
Some of the establishments operated with million-dollar cash movements, transfers to countries such as the United States, Romania, Albania, Malta and Panama.
These businesses also used digital platforms to facilitate the dispersion of illicit resources, their concealment, and their reintegration into the Mexican and international financial system.

The agency detailed that the digital platforms used people with economic profiles not in line with the amount of money received, such as housewives, students, retirees or the unemployed, who in exchange for a percentage transferred the funds to the true owners, legitimizing the income apparently obtained in games.
He indicated that following the findings, the Financial Intelligence Unit will present complaints to the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic and will notify the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, in order to follow up on possible crimes of operations with resources of illicit origin (money laundering), criminal association and tax crimes.

The Treasury asserted that these actions reaffirm the commitment to international cooperation to prevent the use of the financial system for illicit purposes, in collaboration with the Department of the Treasury.
