Mexico City (EFE) .- President Claudia Sheinbaum said her government analyzes a possible demand against Spacex, Elon Musk company, for the possible environmental and security impacts derived from the launch of rockets in the border area of Tamaulipas.
“An international review is being made, what laws are being violated and, from there, we will begin a process,” Sheinbaum said during his morning press conference.
Sheinbaum thus referred to the explosion of the Spacex Starship rocket that a few days ago impacted directly on the Tamaulipeca coast and generated garbage and hazardous waste.
He pointed out that together with members of his cabinet they are reviewing everything that has to do with the launch of rockets in an area very close to the border of the United States and Mexico, and the security and environmental impacts that these actions have to initiate the corresponding demands.

“We are reviewing not only to make a review and point, but everything that has to do with the launch of the rockets that are very close to our border, the impacts it has in the area and, within the framework of international laws, make the necessary demands that have to be done,” he emphasized.
On June 18, the Starship Rocket of the Spacex company exploded on the launch platform, located in Boca Chica, Texas, which is located three kilometers from the border with Mexico.
After the takeoff, the propeller was separated and on his return to the Earth’s atmosphere he suffered an explosion, disintegrated into hundreds of pieces that fell into the Gulf of Mexico, but the sea currents took them to Baghdad Beach, in Matamoros, which generated concern between environmentalists and local authorities.
The waste, mainly rubber, plastic, silicone, aluminum, cooling tanks and packaging used in the launch were removed by the authorities, however, environmentalists expressed concern about the micro space garbage that would have been scattered on the coast.
In addition, they have stopped the release of 10,000 turtle pups, an endangered species, due to the presence of waste that puts their survival at risk.
In addition to this, specialists have warned that the fragments of space garbage can contain toxic or polluting substances that can affect the flora, fauna and contaminate food chains.
