The government reported this Friday that arrested 914 people and confiscated 16.6 tons of drugs, including 55.9 kilograms of fentanyl, from last February 5 when the North border operation that agreed with the president of the United States, Donald Trump, began to pause the imposition of 25% tariffs until March 4.

In a statement, the executive indicated that the security cabinet also seized 896 firearms, 99,930 cartridges of various calibers, 3,606 loaders, 784 vehicles and 105 properties.

Trump has linked the general tariffs of 25% to Mexico to the traffic of migrants and drugs, by declaring terrorists to drug trafficking posters, which he accuses of killing between 250,000 and 300,000 Americans per year.

On February 5, the North Frontera operation began with the deployment of 10,000 agents of the National Defense Secretariat (Defense) to strengthen security in the border area and avoid drug trafficking, people and firearms, explained at the beginning of the Omar García Harfuch program, head of the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection (SSPC).

The official, in charge of the Security Plan, said that the deployment of the agents would be given in the border states of Mexico and the United States, after the agreement made by President Claudia Sheinbaum in a call on February 3 with Trump so that he paused for one month the imposition of 25%tariffs.

This Thursday, the United States government confirmed that the 29 people accused of drug trafficking who were extradited by Mexico are already in their custody.
