He hoped that one of the most competitive worldwide will be made of the sector and investments will be endorsed for more than 8,000 million dollars in the coming years.

At the end of January, the Canacero said that the national industry faces a “critical challenge” due to the increase in exports of finished steel products from the United States, which breached the Joint Statement agreed with Mexico.

Supported with economy data, the organization explained that 27% of the steel that the United States exports to Mexico originates in Asian countries, with possible triangulation cases from Malaysia, and that on the contrary, accusations that Mexico serves as a bridge of China for Asian steel triangulation to the United States lacks foundation.

He explained that Mexico has taken measures to protect North America against unfair practices from countries without commercial treaties, including tariffs of up to 50% for countries without commercial agreements.

He added that Mexico has worked with the United States in a steel traceability system to identify its origin and avoid triangulation attempts.
