The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, reported that in Badiraguato there have been attacks with drones aimed at communities in the mountains to frighten them, which causes the forced displacement of inhabitants.

He added that, of these devices, several have been seized that were used by organized crime groups, which were used to monitor movements and intimidate the population.

“There have been (attacks) and that is why we had a sudden phenomenon of (forced) displacement and we have been attending to it in Badiraguato and here (Culiacán) (…) There is an operation there, many drones have been seized, in fact they have been using the drone (organized crime) and people were afraid of the drone,” said Rocha Moya in statements to the media.

He said that the use of these devices generated fear among the inhabitants of different communities, which led to the displacement of families to other areas of the municipality and even to Culiacán.

According to security sources, so far agents have seized seven drones, as well as material for the manufacture of homemade or artisanal explosives.

The governor also mentioned that people who have been violated are cared for by the Secretariat of Welfare and Sustainable Development (Sebides).

The state president’s statements occur after the publication and dissemination of a video on social networks where several subjects allegedly throw an explosive device towards the home of Consuelo Loera Pérez, mother of Joaquín ‘el Chapo’ Guzmán, in the La Tuna community.

Since September 2024, there has been an internal struggle within the Sinaloa Cartel, which the United States declared this year as a terrorist group, following the arrest in July of Ismael ‘el Mayo’ Zambada, co-founder of the organization, after Joaquín Guzmán López, one of the sons of ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán, handed him over to the United States.

According to figures from the NGO State Public Security Council (CESP), since September 9, 2024, the conflict between Los Chapitos and Los Mayos has caused more than 1,800 deaths in Sinaloa and more than 2,400 forced disappearances.
